ConSentry Positioned in “VISONARIES” Quadrant in Magic Qudarant
for Network Access Control

Magic Quadrant Highlights Technology Leaders, Business Growth,
and Customer Use Cases in this Important Market

Milpitas, CA – April 2, 2009 -ConSentry Networks announced today it has been positioned by Gartner, Inc., in the “Visionaries” quadrant of the March 2009 Magic Quadrant for Network Access Control (NAC). According to Gartner’s research, many enterprises will expand their use of NAC beyond their initial focus. Many are expanding the scale (increasing the number of endpoints) and the scope (adding more functionality) of their NAC projects. ConSentry’s intelligent control enables enterprises to embed control of users, applications, and devices directly into the LAN, dramatically simplifying asset protection for its customers.

In recent related Gartner research, “Introducing the Identity-Aware Network,” Analyst Lawrence Orans concludes that today’s enterprise networks are “blind” about users. “Most enterprise networks are anonymous — that is, the types of users (employee, guest, or contractor) are not identified. Network managers can gain more visibility and control over user traffic by adding identity awareness to their networks,” stated Gartner analyst Orans.

The Gartner Magic Quadrant on Network Access Control discusses the product offerings of 18 vendors. ConSentry offers advanced identity-aware features, including the ability to control user access to applications and specific files. The ConSentry access switches and controllers deploy in-line and offer flexible enforcement options, including the ability to allow, deny, rate-limit, and mirror traffic. ConSentry's InSight Command Center provides a comprehensive view of all LAN activity, including proactively highlighting risky applications, servers, and devices on the LAN.

“A focus on identity has been at the core of ConSentry’s product development from the start,” said Derek Granath, vice president of marketing for ConSentry. “We enable our customers to deploy all four of the most common uses for NAC that Gartner has identified – guest network services, endpoint baselining, identity-aware networking, and monitoring/containment. The ConSentry LANShield platform provides unprecedented levels of visibility into and control of users, applications, and devices on the LAN.”
