CONSENTRY NETWORKS ADDS 50 CUSTOMERS WORLDWIDE

Best-of-Breed Product Gains Strong Traction in LAN Security Market; Company Builds Infrastructure for Success, Reaps Industry Accolades

Milpitas, CA – September 12, 2006 – ConSentry Networks, a leading provider of secure LAN solutions, announced today that it has added 50 customers so far this year, building strong traction for its LANShield LAN security solutions. The first eight months of 2006 have also seen the company expand globally, raise $20 million, and gain widespread recognition for both its business and product excellence. With ongoing pilot deployments in 80 additional enterprises, together with this existing customer growth and momentum, ConSentry now stands at the forefront of the burgeoning LAN security market.

The 50 customers ConSentry has added range in markets from education, to transportation, to high technology, to finance.  LANShield systems capable of controlling more than a half million end users are now deployed in customers including BT Radianz, Conseil des écoles publiques de l’Est de l’Ontario, CoServ, Continental Airlines, the Milwaukee School of Engineering, Mindjet, Oklahoma Farm Bureau, Omneon Video Networks, The United Illuminating Company, and the University of Pennsylvania.  In addition, service providers such as Telefonica and igxglobal.inc have deployed ConSentry’s solution to deliver managed LAN security services to their customers, which include Banco Santander and environmental engineering specialist HydroQual.

With ConSentry, these organizations are addressing such issues as enabling guest access, securing contractor access, deploying authentication without an infrastructure upgrade, segmenting users on the LAN with role-based controls, restricting access to sensitive data on a need-to-know basis, and achieving compliance with standards such as the Payment Card Industry (PCI) standard.

“It’s crucial to our business that we control not just who can get onto our LAN but also what users can do once they’re on the LAN,” said Bill Braun, vice president of information systems for the Texas Credit Union League. “ConSentry makes it easy for us to segment our LAN and apply role-based control over who can access our financial servers and other critical resources. We’ve been able to just drop in the ConSentry devices—we didn’t have to change anything on our LAN to get this segmentation and control.”

Braun’s experience with the simplicity of ConSentry’s integrated approach to policy enforcement echoes the sentiments of other ConSentry customers. ConSentry’s strong customer traction is a tribute to its inline approach, which makes it easy for customers to deploy ConSentry solutions.  Out-of-band architectures are complex, requiring companies to re-architect their VLANs and create new Access Control Lists (ACLs), and they complicate troubleshooting.

“ConSentry set out to be a leader in LAN security – in both customer adoption and technology innovation,” said Tom Barsi ConSentry Networks’ president and CEO. “It’s rewarding to see our vision, sales traction, and industry achievements demonstrate our leadership role. We’re already seeing broad adoption within Fortune 500 accounts and strong follow-on orders from existing customers. With our continued momentum, we see 2007 as a break-out year for ConSentry.”

Product Line, Sales Channels Expand in 2006

During 2006, ConSentry has continued to enhance its LANShield Controller product line and lead the migration of security as an embedded technology in the LAN.

Key new features introduced this year include improved device state sharing in high-availability deployments, automatic learning of users’ roles for access control policies, support for a dissolvable agent for posture check, and protocol-specific classification for voice over IP.

ConSentry launched the LANShield Controller CS-1000 for smaller overlay deployments, and it introduced the industry’s first secure LAN switch, the LANShield Switch.  This enterprise-class solution can secure every user and every port on the LAN, bringing the scope of containment for an attack down to a single user.

ConSentry has further expanded its market reach by building up its sales channel, signing agreements with several dozen key new resellers, and entering two-tier distribution. ConSentry has ramped and trained resellers across the globe, spanning the United States, Europe, and the Asia Pacific region, and the company is using that strong reseller base to further grow global reach. In addition, Access Distribution, a General Electric company and leading value-added distributor of complex computing solutions, is distributing ConSentry’s LAN security solutions to authorized VARs in the U.S. and Canada.

ConSentry Goes Global with Assist of Strong Funding, Wins Awards

ConSentry raised $20 million in its oversubscribed Series D round of funding in July.  Existing investors Accel Partners, INVESCO Private Capital, and Sequoia Capital participated in the new round, joined by new investor Duff Ackerman & Goodrich (DAG) Ventures.  ConSentry’s total funding now stands at $51 million.

The company is using these funds to build a stronger worldwide presence as demand for LAN control and security solutions gain momentum in Asia and Europe, rapidly approaching the uptake in the U.S. market.  This year, ConSentry has opened sales offices in the U.K. and Japan, adding to its existing sales office in Germany.

Further consolidating its reputation as a best-of-breed solution, the LANShield Controller has been recognized with multiple awards from trade publications and trade shows.  Most notably, the LANShield Controller won the “Best of Interop” award in the infrastructure category at the Las Vegas Interop show and in the security category at the Tokyo Interop show.  In addition, EE Times named ConSentry as a startup “Shaping Tomorrow’s Technology,” and InfoWorld named it one of the “15 Tech Start-Ups to Watch.
