FORMER BLACK HAT SERVICES SECURITY EXPERT
MICHAEL BEDNARCZYK JOINS CONSENTRY NETWORKS

New Principal Security Architect Heads ConSentry’s Security Lab

and ConSentry LAN Advisory Security Service

MILPITAS, Calif. – Nov. 14, 2005 -- ConSentry Networks, a leading provider of secure networking solutions for LANs, today announced that Michael Bednarczyk has joined the company as the head of the ConSentry Security Lab and will spearhead the company’s ConSentry LAN Advisory Security service (CLASS). With over 20 years of “in the trenches” industry experience testing and implementing a broad range of security solutions, Bednarczyk is the former chief executive officer and senior scientist at Black Hat Services, one of the industry’s most respected and sought after security consulting organizations.

As Principal Security Architect and head of ConSentry’s Security Lab, Bednarczyk will be responsible for identifying blended threats that compromise the security integrity of LANs and developing problem resolution and implementation strategies.  Because of his extensive hands-on experience in testing and deploying a wide range of security solutions for Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, the military, and global “Big Five” consulting organizations, he will also direct ConSentry’s CLASS program. This new program provides LAN vulnerability services that offer enterprises never-before-seen views into user activity and applications on the LAN.  By offering an assessment of an organization’s authentication, endpoint security and control readiness, as well as a LAN security operational plan, the CLASS program equips enterprises with new levels of visibility into discrete risk areas to quantify their LAN security posture.

“While many security companies are adding ivory tower security academics to their threat detection organizations, the addition of Michael Bednarczyk arms ConSentry with one of the most formidable hands-on security experts in the industry,” said Tom Barsi, ConSentry’s CEO.  “His operational background in directing large scale security initiatives for some of the  most sophisticated organizations in the world will enable ConSentry to continue to lead the innovation in LAN Control.”

Prior to joining ConSentry, Bednarczyk was Chief Scientist at the Internet Security Advisors Group.  He also served as Worldwide Director of Intrusion Services for Secure Computing Corporation.  Previously, he was Managing Director at Guardent.  His security background includes pivotal roles as Global Security Services Center Manager for Hewlett-Packard and Chief Executive officer and Senior Scientist at Black Hat Services. Mr. Bednarczyk’s client experience includes organizations such as Alcoa, DARPA, Ernst & Young, European Air Command, IBM, NASA and SRI among numerous others. With an extensive background in the development, deployment and review of corporate information security methodologies, he maintains a strong understanding of how to align information security solutions to complement corporate operating models for optimal business impact.

"Having developed and deployed security solutions across multiple industries and organizations, it’s clear that companies need to adopt best-of-class solutions and technologies to solve their security requirements,” said Michael Bednarcyzk, principal security architect with ConSentry.  “What ConSentry is bringing to market is the most comprehensive and technically advanced LAN security solution that is designed to interoperate with existing switching and identity management products to deliver on the promise of the ‘Secure LAN’.”
