CONSENTRY NETWORKS WINS NETWORK WORLD’S CLEAR CHOICE AWARD IN NAC APPLIANCE TEST
Milpitas, CA – December 6, 2006 –ConSentry Networks, a leading provider of secure LAN solutions, announced today that it won the “Network World Clear Choice” award in Network World’s recent NAC appliance test. The product review examined the ability of NAC
appliances to provide increased access control and high levels of security with minimal impact on existing network infrastructures.
The test assessed ConSentry’s LANShield™ CS2400 Controller along with its InSight™ Command Center management system against Nevis’ LANenforcer 2024 appliance and its LANsight Security Manager. The test focused on four critical areas for NAC deployment: authentication and authorization, endpoint-security posture assessment, traffic
enforcement, and system management.
“Overall, LANShield is astonishingly mature for such a new product and has come a long way in a short time,” wrote Joel Snyder, author of the network access control test. In the review, Snyder called out ConSentry’s strengths in providing simple authentication, more sophisticated endpoint posture checks, Layer 7 policy enforcement, and superior visibility and performance in InSight.
“Receiving this Clear Choice award is another exciting validation of ConSentry’s leadership role in NAC and LAN security,” said Tom Barsi, ConSentry Networks’ president and CEO. “ConSentry’s LANShield platforms and InSight Command Center provide enterprises with a
simple but compelling means for adding control without compromise.”
In the test, ConSentry was awarded four out of five points – a “very good” rating – in the areas of authentication/authorization, enforcement and IPS, and stability/maturity. Snyder further commented in the review that “ConSentry’s InSight Command Center has a good monitoring system, with superior visibility into what is happening on the network,” and that
the LANShield platform “offers great flexibility in deployment and an outstanding design for policy management.”
