Securing VPN Access
One of the user groups that presents a particular risk for enterprises is remote users accessing the LAN over a VPN.
The key issues are:
- remote machines are more susceptible to infection
- remote connections are less trustworthy
- IT needs flexible policy support
- universal – same access, local or remote
- context-specific – reduced access when remote
The ConSentry platform provides IT with a number of ways to apply network access control to VPN users. The LANShield platform can:
- authenticate users over VPN, including by providing a second login via captive portal
- perform a posture check to ensure the device is free of malware
- automatically identify a user’s role during authentication
- deploy role-based access controls
- apply universal or location-specific policies (e.g. reduce access to remote vs. local users)
ConSentry lets IT secure access even for that least controlled group of remote users.
